Galmed Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Nasdaq: GLMD), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of the liver targeted SCD1 modulator Aramchol™, a once-daily, oral therapy for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, or NASH, has closed an underwritten public offering of 5,000,000 ordinary shares. The shares were sold at the public offering price of $15.00 per share, resulting in the gross proceeds to Galmed of approximately $75 million. In addition, Galmed Pharmaceuticals Ltd. granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 750,000 ordinary shares at the public offering price.

Galmed intends to use the proceeds from the offering for (i) continued development of Aramchol, (ii) development of new programs, (iii) business development activities, and (iv) general corporate purposes.

ROTH Capital Partners acted as co-lead manager for the offering.
